My name is Liz Wilson; my pronouns are She/Her/Hers. I teach Comparative Religion at Miami University, a state school near Cincinnati Ohio. I specialize in South Asian religions with a focus on family formation, gender, and sexuality. One of my projects is helping to build religious literacy in local K-12 classrooms, especially public high schools. This Institute will be a fantastic learning opportunity for me that will benefit my university students as well as the K-12 schools I serve. I’m especially keen to learn more about the role that poetry plays in the everyday lives of Muslims. Genres like sung poetry and dance sound like sure-fire winners in every classroom. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy hikes with my wife Jenn, bike riding, reading, or cooking.
Something you might not expect if you saw my 5’3” frame in person: I’m passionate about playing basketball and will drop everything I’ve planned if I hear of a nearby pick-up game! Looking forward to meeting everyone and having some great discussions.
